Who can apply?

Contributors must be 18 years or older when applying. We are an inclusive publication and encourage people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, and all others to apply!

Is this paid?

We would love to pay you! We believe creatives should always be paid for their work. ALL contributors will receive one free physical copy of the finished anthology and can purchase additional copies at cost. Also, all proceeds from the preorder crowdfunding campaign will go to contributors FIRST. We do not get paid until you do. If our goal is met, we will pay $50 per page of artwork (if you are a creative team, the $50 will be split between your group at your discretion.)

What are the specs?

Local Haunts Anthology will be printed in full color at 6.625" x 10.25" (standard graphic novel size) and perfect (softcover) binding.

Full color? But I wanted to do B&W!

Although we will be printing in full color, we may accept some B&W stories. We will also accept stories with limited color palettes. Pleas specify in your submission if you do not plan to use full color.

How long can my story be?

Please keep all finished works between 1-5 pages. We want room to showcase as many different stories from different creators as possible!

Can I send in mature content?

Please don't. We will not publish anything over PG-13. Excessive violence, depictions of or allusion to rape, excessive profanity, and racist/sexist/homophobic/otherwise bigoted viewpoints will result in your submission being thrown out.

Can my story be about Bigfoot/vampires/werewolves/etc.?

The idea behind Local Haunts is to tell small, lesser known ghost and cryptid stories from the creators’ hometowns or surrounding areas. While we ask you to not submit a story about Dracula bein’ Dracula doin' Dracula things, if your uncle’s best friend’s cousin swears he saw Nessie, we’d be open to accepting that story.

I am a writer/artist/letterer looking for a team. Can you match me?

We believe building a team can be such a personal journey, and we would not be comfortable matching people at this time. However, if you are looking for someone to collaborate with, we encourage using the hashtag #LocalHauntsAnthology to find other creatives! We will do our part to share people looking for a team through this method.
